Welcome to the new Alness Academy website for 2020-21.

I am very proud of how we have all worked together to deal with the challenges of Covid-19 and have no doubt that the recovery process in the coming months will be met with the same can-do attitude. The well-being of our pupils and staff is of the utmost importance.

Our core values of Leadership, Aspiration and Compassion are at the heart of all that we do. Our dedicated staff are fully committed to maximising the attainment and achievement and improving the life chances of all our pupils.

Through close scrutiny of data and the setting of ambitious targets from the outset, I am delighted to report that our SQA exam results this year have continued the increasing trend over the past 4 years.

The number of our pupils achieving 5 awards at National 5 increased by 6% this year and the number of pupils gaining at least 3 awards at Higher increased by 4% this year. In S5 we have doubled the number of Higher Grade A passes in 1 year.

Last year we focussed on broadening our curriculum and ensuring that pupils had access to a wider range of courses that met their aptitudes and interests. We also focussed on delivering more work-placed learning opportunities and this has improved self-confidence among many pupils.

We have much to look forward to in 2020-21 and we will move into the fantastic new school just after the October break. I look forward to welcoming everyone to visit the school and community events when it is safe to do so.

Kindest regards
